Jessie Willcox Smith, an American painter, born in Philadelphia. Her child subjects, charmingly done, are very popular, and display genuine love for and insight into child nature. Well-known series of her work are: The Child’s World, The Five Senses, Seven Ages of Childhood (1909) and illustrations for Mother Goose Rhymes. Miss Smith received a silver medal at the Panama-Pacific Exposition (1915).
