Florence Bascom
American Geologist
1862 – 1965 A.D.
Florence Bascom, an American geologist, born in Williamstown, Mass. In 1882 she graduated at the University of Wisconsin, and continued her studies at Johns Hopkins University, where she received the Degree of Ph.D. She became a member of the American Academy for the Advancement of Science, and was assistant editor of the American Geologist. In 1906 Miss Bascom was made professor of geology at Bryn Mawr College.
She has written a number of scientific works.
