Gene Stratton-Porter, an American author and ornithologist. Some of her novels, and books on birds illustrated by her own photographs are very popular.

Among her books are: The Song of the Cardinal, Freckles, What I Have Done with Birds, A Girl of the Limberlost, Birds of the Bible, Music of the Wild, and Michael O’Halloran.
