Helen M. Gould
American Philanthropist

Helen Miller Gould, an American philanthropist, the eldest daughter of Jay Gould, the financier. She was born in New York City, and since 1892 when she inherited part of her father’s fortune, she has achieved an extended fame through her benefactions for charitable and education uses.
Besides large donations of money, she has given her personal services in various movements for public and social welfare. In 1913 Miss Gould was married to Finley J. Shepard.
