Lillian D. Wald, an American social worker. In 1893 she became president and head worker of the Henry Street Settlement, New York. She has lectured and rendered valuable service in various social centres [sic]. Mount Holyoke College gave her the degree of LL.D. in 1912, and the National Institute of Social Sciences awarded her its gold medal.

In 1916 Miss Wald published The House on Henry Street, a history of the settlement.
