“The Hand That Rocks, Rules!”
Recognizing the Spiritual Power of Motherhood by Patricia Chadwick
Since I became a Christian, I’ve always felt the call of God on my life. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that my life’s work is to serve Him. That call has meant different things at different times in my life.
I followed God’s call to become a stay-at-home mom and have been a stay-at-home mom for most of the past 30 years. I live in Batavia, NY with my husband John and my children, TJ, Jeni, and David.
Besides my calling to motherhood, I’ve felt that God has given me the privilege to encourage mothers to continue in their life’s work of raising their children. You are irreplaceable, moms. And you not only rock, you do indeed rule!
Moms, your role is so very important. Don’t ever be persuaded otherwise. No one will ever love your child as you do. No one will ever watch over them like you do. No one will ever pray for them like you do. No one will nurture them like you do. Your role as a mother is God-given and it is powerful.
So you see, the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world for one simple reason: sacrificial love is inherently more trustworthy than selfishness. This is why a mother has such great influence.
Remember, moms, you have great influence. God gave you a calling. You need to follow through and finish out your stint in motherhood strongly. As the Apostle Paul urges, finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given you (Acts 20:24).
A mother imparts to her child a special gift; the gift of self-esteem. She is her child’s biggest fan and loudest cheerleader. Above all, a mother believes her child is special; that he is unique.
